As part of a collaboration with Tate Collectives, The Great British Art Debate has been delving into the world of workshops and inviting 16-25 year olds to join us in a range of creative activity within the gallery.
Family Matters in Pictures

It was way back in November of last year, when contemplating ‘The Family Matters’ exhibition arriving at Tate Britain, that we thought about asking, you, our lovely audience to step up and get involved by submitting your photographs to The Family Matters Competition.
As the winter months passed your beautiful entries arrived and we realised that picking the finalists was going to be a tricky task but now we are proud to say that we have finally selected the photographs to be featured in ‘The Family Matters’ exhibition in October. Congratulations to those who were selected!
With so many lovely entries, we thought that it was a shame to have to wait until October to show them off, so, here we bring you a select few of the final 10 photographs. We hope that you enjoy them!
Tate Lab June 2012

Date and time: Saturday 7 July 2012, 11.00am – 16.00pm
Venue: Manton Studio, Tate Britain.
Description: Come to Tate Collective’s creative lab to experiment, create and innovate through art and ideas. Work collaboratively with photographer Cyrus Mahboubain, using Impossible film in Polaroid cameras and be inspired by Tate’s collection displays. Tate Labs are a series of workshops held on the first Satuarday of every month.

We’re in a mood for a celebration as we have been busy formulating plans with Tate Collectives for Underage Festival and they are coming along swimmingly!

Migration Redefined: Inua Ellams in Conversation
Last week Tate Collectives and The Great British Art Debate spoke with Inua Ellams, a word and graphic artist, through a live twitter Q&A to ask his opinion on migration, Britishness and contemporary art practice.

Q:How do you define Migration?
A: I’m with Wikipedia on this. ‘the movement of people from 1 country or locality to another’ but locality is the special word. I think it’s everything from how u leave your flat & get to work, to how you start from an idea to a finished piece of work.
