Camden Town Group painters were interested in subjects drawn from everyday life in London but there was no shared or easily recognised Camden Town style of painting. Sickert, for example, favoured dark, Old Master tones, while Gore, Ginner, Gilman and Bevan used bold, anti-naturalistic colours.
The essays and films in this section explore the question of style in relation to Camden Town painting, while looking at the artists’ common approaches to composition, techniques and materials.
