This was a right-hand page from the sketchbook. From Marlow (for which see Tate D05906; Turner Bequest XCV 2), Turner seems to have gone about a mile downstream to Winter Hill (see Tate D05907; Turner Bequest XCV 3) which afforded good views. Hill notes the resemblance here to the view from the eastern end of the hill towards Cock Marsh and Bourne End, and that an oil stain on the right edge of the leaf suggests that it was originally placed between D05907 and Tate D05909; Turner Bequest XCV 3, 5.
