The pencil marks are very faint in this sketch. In the background to the left the outlines of two hills slope down, one behind the other, towards a flat plain. In the foreground zigzagging marks suggest the presence of trees or some other form of vegetation.
There is a sketch of an unrelated subject on the verso (D20547; CCXXIV 231v).

Technical notes:
This sketch appears on one half of a large sheet bisected by the faint line of a fold; this half measures 141 x 193mm. On the other half is D20545 (CCXXIV 230).
