In this wide landscape view, the bottom third of the image depicts a flat, sweeping plain of land leading to a set buildings, a farmstead possibly, situated in the centre of the composition. A series of rolling hills rise up behind this farm, their profiles gently interweave as they recede into the distance. On top of the furthest hill are four vertical forms suggesting the towers of a castle.
