A crenellated tower stands behind a bridge, one arch of which is visible. To the left of the tower, another view of which appears in Tate D20330 (Turner Bequest CCXXIV 38), a series of buildings are indicated, while a large shallow-roofed structure stands to its right. Behind these structures a range of hills forms the horizon.
