The date and occasion of this slight pencil sketch of the riverbank at Saint-Cloud are not known. However, Turner specialist Ian Warrell has speculated that it may record an otherwise undocumented expedition from nearby Paris during the 1826 tour.1 See the Introduction to this section for a list of comparable studies of this site.

Technical Notes:
The sheet is attached to D20486 (Turner Bequest CCXXIV 178 v) along the bottom edge, from which it is divided by a horizontal crease. There are brown stains, creasing, and tearing around the edges of the sheet.
