Turner filled the upper half of this this page with a study of buildings in Rouen beside a long arched bridge. In the lower half of the page is a pair of large engineered structures: perhaps the hulks of upturned barges or the piers of a bridge under construction. Rouen was prominent for both its shipping and crossings and is featured multiple times in the pages of this volume. A list of these studies of the city is provided in the sketchbook introduction.
