This is a reprise of part of the subject on the recto, D33960 (Turner Bequest CCCXLI 246), which shoes houses below a ruined castle. The subject is unidentified, but may be Italian; see the Introduction to this section for further brief discussion and dating. Turner’s inscription is very unclear, and Finberg’s tentative reading ‘Villa Fanchoe’1 is only one possibility.
