Turner has dashed off a rough sketch on the pastedown of the inside front cover. He depicts the lighthouses at Lowestoft (left) and Orfordness (right) in Suffolk. Each is studied in more detail on Tate D18225–D18227; Turner Bequest CCIX 35a–36a and Tate D18237–D18238; Turner Bequest CCIX 41a–42 respectively.
The executors’ endorsements are also inscribed.
