With the page turned horizontally, figures are seen in boats on a river, with buildings beyond including what may be a mill with an overhanging top storey. The structure on the right is unclear, but may be a bridge seen in steep perspective. The subject is presumably related to that on folio 1 verso opposite (D22558). The only other rural views identified in this sketchbook show Surrey (see the Introduction).
