This endpaper is not mentioned in Finberg’s Turner Bequest Inventory.1 There are two rough pencil drawings, perhaps geometric diagrams: to the left, a circle with short converging lines below it, and an arc or arch towards the top centre.

Technical notes:
The paste-down is heavily stained across the left-hand three quarters, matching the staining on the outer cover. The overlaps from the leather corners and spine are also evident through the paper and the surface is rubbed and spotted. There is also a large irregular patch of blue-grey watercolour at the top right, probably a colour test connected with Turner’s watercolour of a kingfisher related to the drawing on folio 1 recto opposite (D09789).
