This sketch is taken from near the site of the present Weaponness Valley bridge, with a small mill seen in the left foreground. This is possibly the same mill as seen in D11960; Turner Bequest CLI 8, and almost certainly part of the one seen to the left of D11963; Turner Bequest CLI 11. Turner sketched a similar mill in the Scarborough 1 sketchbook (Tate D11915; Turner Bequest CL 2).
