This sketch of a mansion on a rise above a riverbank has not been identified. It was evidently of architectural interest, however, as Turner has also drawn a diagram relating to the shape of the bay windows at the top of the page, a detail sketch of the shape of the porch, and the following inscription: ‘39 feet. Fluted on the Label to Wings and front windows. 4 Steps. Corinthian. Half Raised Flutes, 18 ft. Step the Half’.
At the right of the page is part of a sketch of a group of trees which is continued on folio 18 verso (Tate D18552). There is another view of the mansion on folio 19 verso (Tate D18554; Turner Bequest CCXI 19a).
