This quick and spirited sketch of a landscape with trees and the arch of a bridge at the right is likely to have been made at Fulham, west London. The reverse of this page carries three sketches of Fulham Bridge as seen from a terrace above the Thames: folio 2 (Tate D18528; Turner Bequest CCXI 2). A sketch of cows in a meadow on folio 38 verso (Tate D18584; Turner Bequest CCXI 38a) is also executed in a similar manner so may have been made on the same occasion.
