Tate Gallery Menu card for the dinner celebrating The Henry Moore Gift exhibition 26 June 1978

This is the menu card produced by the gallery for the celebratory dinner held in the gallery’s restaurant in honour of the artist on the occasion of the exhibition of The Henry Moore Gift and his drawings. One of the wines served was Château Mouton Rothschild (Vintage Henry Moore). In 1964 Moore had been invited by the vineyard to design a label for that year’s production, continuing a tradition initiated in 1924 of having each year’s label designed by the leading artist of the time. Other labels had been designed by Jean Cocteau (1947), George Braque (1955) and Salvador Dalí (1958).
