Announcement card for Henry Moore's seventieth birthday exhibition at the Tate Gallery 18 July 1968 1968

From 18 July to 22 September 1968 the Tate Gallery held a large-scale exhibition of Henry Moore’s sculptures and drawings in honour of the artist’s seventieth birthday. Curated by Moore’s former personal assistant, the critic David Sylvester, the exhibition was notable for the way the works were organised thematically, according to subject matter or formal characteristics, rather than chronologically. The announcement card for the exhibition reproduced Moore’s drawing Crowd Looking at a Tied-Up Object 1942, now held in the collection of the British Museum.
