This is the right half of a two-page panorama continued to the right from folio 4 verso (D10875), opposite, recording the view looking south from the head of the lake at Plompton Rocks. Turner recorded almost exactly the same view in a sketch made in 1797 (Tate D17202; Turner Bequest CXCVII L), which provided the basis for an oil painting, Plompton Rocks (Harewood House)1 painted 1797–8 for Harewood.
