This sketch depicts a bridge with an arched gateway at one end. The subject is tentatively identified as the Pont Saint Laurent in Chalon-sur-Saône, a crossing which connects the western mainland to an island in the centre of the river known as the Île St Laurent.1 For further views of the bridge see folio 18 (D14019).
