Folio 16 Verso:
Blank
D12308
Turner Bequest CLVI 27a
Inscribed in pencil ‘27’ top left, upside down in relation to the present foliation sequence, possibly over an earlier, illegible number

Technical notes:
Ruskin’s earlier dismembering of this book (see the sketchbook introduction) caused Finberg various difficulties in numbering and although he describes page ‘27’ in his Inventory sequence as ‘Blank’, implying that it is a recto (rather than a customary ‘a’-numbered verso), the leaf is now bound so that the blank page forms the verso, and the stamped number ‘CLVI 27’ appears on the recto (D12307), part of a view of Bishop Auckland that he in turn listed as page ‘27a’.
