The viewpoint is near Bossington, looking west along the beach bordering the marshes north of Porlock to the small harbour at Porlock Weir. The series of headlands along the coast terminates at Foreland Point, some ten miles away, hidden beyond which lie Lynton and Lynmouth, for which see under D08948 (CXXVI 3).
The view towards the coast on D08952 (CXXVI 6) has previously been identified as Porlock, but may show nearby Minehead.
On the verso (D41531) is a slight continuation of a view of Bridgwater Bay.
Technical notes:
There are five sets of stitch holes near the left-hand edge, and a small hole towards the top right with staining around it.
