Looking west, this study of Combe Martin harbour is from a viewpoint to the north-east of the similar sketch on D08949 (CXXVI 4); see the entry for the latter for further discussion of the subject. The same house on the cliff is seen in each. On the verso of the present work (D08951; CXXVI 5a) is a view out to sea.
Technical notes:
There are five sets of stitch holes near the left-hand edge. There is a small piece missing at the bottom right corner, matching similar losses to adjacently numered leaves (D08946–D08949, D08951, D40294, D40295; CXXVI 1–4 and the verso of the present sheet, CXXVI 5a) and to D08964 (CXXVI 18).
