The view is south-west along the shore at Fowey past trees and what appear to be small buildings in the neighbourhood of the Fowey blockhouse, towards St Catherine’s point and the ruined castle of the same name, an artillery fort dating from about the 1530s.1 There is a closer study of the building on folio 15 verso (D08390); for other views in and around Fowey see under folio 5 verso (D08371).
