This tiny sketch is almost illegible and Finberg’s title (described as ‘pure inspiration’ in a pencil annotation to a copy of the Inventory in Tate’s library) can only be based on adjacent sketches of figures in open country on folios 2 verso–3 and 4 (D07857–D07858, D07860) and those of gun-dogs and sportsmen at the other end of the book.
