For Turner’s visit to the Ribble Valley, Craven Dales and into Yorkshire, to Farnley Hall, see Introduction to the sketchbook; a drawing of Giggleswick near Malham is on folio 12 (D06834; Turner Bequest CIII 5). This drawing of Malham Cove served as the basis of a watercolour (British Museum, London),1 perhaps made for Walter Fawkes of Farnley around the same time as Yorkshire subjects, circa 1808–10.2
