This sketch, mainly of trees in an open landscape is quite slight and Finberg’s title, which is retained here, is unconfirmed. The sheet was probably a right-hand page, with stitch holes on the left. The Executors’ signatures suggests that it may have been a flyleaf, or at least at the top of a group of leaves as they found them. The poor condition of the paper, with the edges abraded, and rubbing and staining also seems to support this. Finberg noted ‘Drawing rubbed and paper dirty’ and this is still evident today.
