For another study of wild plants including dock see folio 1 of the sketchbook (D05961). The 1974 Royal Academy catalogue suggested that this more closely observed still life served as the basis for the cluster of plants in the right foreground of Turner’s watercolour More Park, near Watford, on the River Colne (Tate D18141; Turner Bequest CCVIII H) made for the Rivers of England. The view was based on folio 49 (D06071).
