This was probably drawn near Kew Palace or perhaps near the entrance to the Grand Union Canal on the Middlesex bank of the Thames; see the sketch of Kew Palace on folio 11 of the sketchbook (D05505). Hill suggests that this barge may be delivering materials for the construction of the new Kew Palace to the design of James Wyatt; see folio 8 verso (D05501).
