The Camden Town Group in Context

The Camden Town Group in Context was first conceived of as a volume of catalogue entries but has developed into a multi-layered electronic resource and repository of new research. During the project’s gestation the Tate team has sought the help and advice of many people, and on behalf of the team I should like to express here our profound gratitude to the project contributors and all those who have generously assisted us.

Particular thanks are owed to Wendy Baron, leading scholar in the field of Camden Town Group studies, who has helped in a multitude of ways, from reading drafts of catalogue entries and essays to providing hard-to-find images. Other editorial advisors have also been unstintingly generous with their time and expertise, and their comments on essays have been invaluable. We are deeply grateful to them all.

Within the project team a great debt is owed to Ysanne Holt, the project’s Academic Advisor and commissioning editor, and Helena Bonett, Research Coordinator, for the dedication they have brought to the realisation of this ambitious and innovative venture. We are deeply grateful to them both for their varied contributions, as we are to Robert Upstone who as a curator wrote many catalogue entries and led the project before he left Tate and to Nicola Moorby who also authored a large number of the project’s core texts about the artists and works in Tate’s collection.
