With the page turned vertically, there are two slight sketches here. The lower shows barely more than a few trees; the upper indicates a bridge with several arches in a wooded valley with a building or buildings on the left. Like the majority of drawings in this sketchbook, these studies were probably made in the rural Thames Valley; see the Introduction.
Technical notes:
There is some offsetting or rubbing from the watercolour study on folio 11 recto opposite (D18613).
