This view of Witton Castle is part of a double-page drawing, which also shows Witton-le-Wear to the north-east on folio 17 verso opposite (D12339); there is also a slight continuation on folio 19 recto (D12341). On the present page the castle is seen from the hillside to its east, with the Wear Valley below to the right.
