Like the drawing on the recto (D20604), this shows Windsor Castle to the south-east, beyond trees beside the River Thames in the vicinity of Eton College. There is a separate quick study or continuation of the castle’s profile at the top left, while the loosely indicated buildings on the right are probably those of the school. Folio 7 recto (D20606) records a similar view, as does folio 9 verso (D20608); for others in the area and further discussion see under folio 2 recto (D20598).
