Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, there are four views here dominated by the Roman ruins at Richborough Castle (ancient Rutupiae), in open country about a mile north-west of Sandwich (see under folio 6 recto; D35767).
The bottom sketch shows a boat on the River Stour east of the site. For other sketches, see under folio 7 recto (D35769).
