Finberg noted that this leaf was ‘found unnumbered’ (by John Ruskin) and listed it as ‘page 87’. In fact, the number ‘87’ inscribed in the top right corner looks like Ruskin’s writing and it is in his customary red ink (although he numbered the other leaves of this book in blue). The present leaf was inserted in the reconstituted sketchbook as folio 11, as noted by Edward Croft-Murray in a copy of Finberg in Tate’s Library, in order to align the sketch of a long stretch of coastline towards Margate across the top of the leaf with its continuation on folio 10 verso (D06374). Below is a separate sketch of a man-of-war dressed with flags and other vessels off the coast.
