This page contains part of a panoramic landscape view continued from the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 1 verso (D16400; Turner Bequest CXC 5a). The subject, is not as Finberg suggested the Esquiline Hill, but a view of the Muro Torto and the Porta del Popolo from the north of Rome. The buildings depicted here include the long stretch of the Vatican seen in the distance.
