The building on the left may be the teahouse1 or another small garden building in the grounds of the Charles James Fox’s villa at St Anne’s Hill, near Chertsey in Surrey (see the sketchbook’s Introduction for more details), the roof of which is apparently shown beyond the trees in the distance. Compare the urn and trellis on the right with those on the left on folio 25 verso (D20588), the basis of one of Turner’s St Anne’s Hill watercolours.
