For Turner’s visit to Tabley in 1808, see Introduction to the sketchbook. Following two rapid sketches of St Peter’s Chapel alongside the Old Hall on folios 2 and 3 (D06985, D06986) this equally hurried sketch might be identified as the bridge leading to the island in the Moat on which the buildings stood.
