This rough sketch appears to depict, at least in part, local shipping. The summary outline of a brig can be seen at the extreme right; the frontal profile of its bow and sails are represented. The remainder of the drawing is almost indecipherable, perhaps representing other details of shipping or buildings. The palette is striking; comprised of grey, pale maroon and brilliant red applied with swift and vigorous handling.
Technical notes:
There is some offsetting of red pigment onto the folio opposite.
