This sketch is the last in a series of seven recording an exploration down the Weaponness Valley at Scarborough, starting from a viewpoint about a mile south-west of the castle (D11972; Turner Bequest CLI 18) and finishing with the present sketch at the embouchement onto the south bay shore. The view of the present sketch is effectively the continuation to the right of that of D11965; Turner Bequest CLI 12.
