Turner filled this page with multiple studies of buildings and settlements in coastal terrain. A pencil note towards the top right-hand corner of the page identifies the adjacent scene to the vicinity of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. Tate curator Ian Warrell identified other of the scenes depicted here as the harbour town of Honfleur.1 The artist filled several pages of the present volume with studies of these Normandy towns, lists of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
