The view is from the beach on the east side of Lulworth Cove, Dorset, the only point from which the Isle of Portland is visible on the horizon to the south-west through the seaward entrance to the cove. It repeats a small lateral section of the double page view overleaf (folios 20 verso, 21 recto; D08830, D08831), and was presumably made because the profile of Portland there is disrupted by coinciding with the gutter.
There are further views of the cove on folios 21 verso and 22 recto (D08832, D08833).
