This series of sketches show aspects of Pakefield, a village near Lowestoft in Suffolk (see Tate D18246; Turner Bequest CCIX 46). The Church of All Saints and St Margaret appears to have been rendered in the majority of views. The central jotting depicts the beach, with moored boats and locals on the sand. It is inscribed with an annotation that Finberg transcribed ‘Alfred Cove’. The views below are also annotated: ‘N.S. 1820’ next to the sketch of Pakefield and ‘Light’ in the drawing of a stretch of coastline.
