D09321
Turner Bequest CXXXI 95
Pencil on white wove paper, 95 x 157 mm

Stamped in black ‘CXXXI – 95’ bottom left, descending vertically

Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
With the page turned horizontally, the tower of Mount Batten and the flat profile of Plymouth Citadel are seen from the Oreston area, looking west. The subjects as far as folio 127 recto (D09358) are all identified or presumed sites within a few miles in and around Plymouth, suggesting a series of fairly short excursions.
Verso:
Blank. There is a stain at the bottom right matching one on folio 96 recto opposite (D09322) but slightly misaligned, suggesting that the pages were not then bound as they are now.
