With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a view of hilly fluvial terrain which Tate curator Ian Warrell has identified as a study of the estuary of the River Morlaix.1 Drawings of this landscape feature on multiple pages in this part of the volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
