Turner filled this page with panoramic vistas of distant coastal terrain. Turner’s pencil notes along the top and bottom edges of the page identify scene as the area around Le Havre. The artist filled several pages of the present volume with studies of this Normandy harbour town, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction for comparison.
