This sketch, drawn with the page turned horizontally, records a view of Kendal from the south, from the left bank of the river Kent, looking to the church and town, with a separate detail of a building above. Another sketch, on folios 34 verso–35 recto (D11091–D11090), records a similar aspect of Kendal but from a lower viewpoint and further left. A sketch of Kendal church on folio 13 verso opposite (D11061), records it from the same aspect, but from an evidently closer viewpoint. The present author has dated these sketches to Sunday 11 August 1816, the last day of this particular tour.1
