This is the left half of a double-page spread continued to the right on folio 20 recto (D11400) opposite, recording the view north-east over the remains of Jervaulx Abbey towards Danby Hall on the far side of the valley, to the right, and the profile of Penhill noted to the far left. It is a more detailed treatment of the material of the small sketch on the recto (D11398; see catalogue notes for Jervaulx Abbey).
