With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a loose coastal view with buildings. A semi-decipherable note on folio 3 verso opposite (D23341; Turner Bequest CCL 3a) may locate the scene to Granville, on the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsular in Normandy.
