In this quite careful drawing, the Derwent flows under Gote Bridge, on the outskirts of Cockermouth. Cockermouth Castle, with the round (archers’) tower at left and the flag tower at right, is glimpsed in the distance above the town. For Cockermouth Castle and views in this sketchbook, see Introduction.
