Finberg’s uncertainty about which drawing to which the present continuation relates has since been resolved as part of the general rearrangement of the sketchbook: D09857 (Turner Bequest CXXXIV 58) has been placed opposite as folio 4 recto, while D09807 (Turner Bequest CXXXIV 16) is now bound later in the book (see also the sketchbook’s Introduction).
Eric Shanes has noted this continuation and the main drawing opposite as the basis for the watercolour Gledhow of 1816 (private collection),1 engraved for Dr Whitaker’s Loidis and Elmete of 1816,2 but not issued until 1820. The subject and other views are discussed in the entry for the recto (D09805).
